Free author event to explore dealing with Alzheimer’s

Community members are invited to learn more from Bainbridge Island author Rosalys Peel at the North Olympic Library System’s next “Meet the Author” event set for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, on Zoom.

Peel is the author of “Mike & Me,” the Indie Award-winning guide for Alzheimer’s couples, families and caregivers.

Peel will talk about her book and take audience questions in this free Zoom program. Register at nols.org.

Although her story is specifically about Alzheimer’s, readers dealing with other forms of dementia and caregiving related to aging, can find useful take-aways from the discussion, program organizers say.

When her husband Mike was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, Peel searched the bookshelves for a “couples guide” that would show them how to deal with his illness at home instead of in a care facility. Unable to find that book, she eventually decided to write it herself.

Peel has been featured on NPR, the “Today Show” and the Sequim Gazette. She is a registered nurse, a certified couples relationship facilitator, and writer and speaker in the national fight against Alzheimer’s.

She lives on Bainbridge Island near her children and grandchildren.
