A 20-year-old Sunland resident was arrested in late November for threatening to explode a bomb, local law enforcement officials said.
Just after 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 29, a man later identified as 20-year-old Patrick J. Ahern, called 9-1-1 and said he created a bomb that was about to explode in 10 minutes, according to the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office. He requested law enforcement at his residence in the 100 block of Fairway Drive. While deputies were responding to the area, they established phone communication with Ahern.
“[He] ultimately revealed there was no bomb, and he made the statement to 9-1-1 emergency dispatchers because his mother wouldn’t allow him to smoke marijuana,” sheriff’s office officials said in a press release.
Ahern’s legal guardian was in the home at the time of the incident and assured deputies that he never had a bomb, and no bomb located within the home. Ahern was then arrested and booked into the Clallam County Jail for Threats to Bomb or Injure Property — a Class B Felony in Washington state.
