The Big Lots in Port Angeles will close its doors soon.
About 149 Big Lots stores across the nation revealed they are closing, according to The Hill. Twelve out of Washington state’s 26 Big Lots locations are included in that number.
Individual Big Lots locations are alerting customers of closure through a banner on their websites.
“Like many other retailers, Big Lots has been struggling with a drop in sales due to inflation, higher prices and consumers cutting back on spending,” business magazine Fast Company reported.
A U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filing shows that, for the first quarter of this year, the company lost $205 million.
According to the filing, Big Lots plan as of June 13 was to close between 35 and 40 stores this year and open three stores.
Big Lots currently operates 1,389 locations across all contiguous states, with no locations in Alaska or Hawaii.
According to the Port Angeles Big Lots website, merchandise is up to 20 percent off with limited exceptions.
This is the second chain store in the Port Angeles Plaza location to close, as the Rite Aid next door announced in June that it would be closing.
