Marketing local events discussed

Sequim Humanities and Arts Alliance’s Cultural Connections presents a free program,

“Sequim Celebrations — Active Arts Participation in Festivals and Special Events,” hosted by Renne Emiko Brock-Richmond from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20, at The Lodge at Sherwood Village media room, 660 W. Evergreen Farm Way, Sequim.

The program includes information from several event producers and techniques for marketing Arts events online.

Guild thrift shop open Saturday

The Sequim Dungeness Hospital Guild’s Thrift Shop, 204 W. Bell St.,

Sequim, will be open 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18. The shop will feature winter clothing for ladies, children and men, home and kitchen accessories, furniture and jewelry. All white tagged items will be marked at half price.

Quality Inn goes platinum

The Quality Inn & Suites Hotel in Sequim has won a 2012 Platinum Hospitality Award from Choice Hotels International, one of only six hotels out of the 84 Choice Hotels in Washington and one of 88 hotels within the 1,037-strong Quality brand to receive “Platinum Award” status.

Washburn named Employee of the Year

Pacific Office Equipment, 314 E. Eighth St., Port Angeles, has selected Wendy Washburn as 2011 Employee of the Year. Washburn works dispatch for the POE service team. When customers call in for service on copiers, hers often is the voice they hear. The POE Employee of the Year is voted each year by the employees of Pacific Office Equipment.

Nash’s Farm Store highlights ‘Great Grains’

Sherry Fry of Common Sense Nutritional Therapy explains how to get the biggest nutritional value with grains at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, at Nash’s Farm Store, 4681 Sequim-Dungeness Way.

Fry, a certified healing food specialist, discusses which grains and flours are best nutritionally and how to sprout grains.
