Holiday Inn Express wins safety award

The Holiday Inn Express and Conference Center in Sequim has received the InterContinental Hotels Group 2010 Global Partners in Safety Award. Toni Skinner, general manager, and Steve Kratz, maintenance supervisor, accepted the award at the company?s town hall meeting in Everett on May 24 (see picture above). Hotel owner Bret Wirta said, ?Our insurance adjustor was so impressed by all our team had accomplished that he lowered our insurance premiums by 4 percent!?

Peninsula Awards & Trophies, at 241 E. Washington St., Sequim, will be closed on Saturdays during July. Regular store hours of 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday will resume Aug. 1.

State liquor store hours expanded

Beginning July 1, all state liquor stores will have the same expanded hours of operation. The new hours will be 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Thursday; 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday-Saturday; and noon-5 p.m. Sunday.

Earth CPR Supplies

Wanda Horst, owner of Earth CPR Supplies, and her husband, Leonard, attended The Northwest Lawn & Garden Pesticide Summit in Seattle in June. The Coalition of Organic Landscape Professionals presented the summit, which focused on lawn and garden pesticides around the home, public parks and school grounds.

Earth CPR, 65 Hooker Road, Sequim, offers predatory nematodes that attack the soil-dwelling stage of many insect larvae.

Earth CPR also offers actively aerated compost tea, which also is available at McComb Gardens and Sunny Farms Farm Store.

Cedarbrook begins summer hours

Cedarbrook Lavender and Herb Farm and Café and Bell House Gift Shop, 1345 S. Sequim Ave., have begun summer hours.

The farm and Bell House Gift Shop (see photo below) are open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Saturday, and daily from July 11-23.

The café and café gift shop are open 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday in June. July hours are 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Saturday, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. daily from July 11-23.

Reservations are available for a high tea from noon-3 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, and for dinner with music by harpist Bronn Journey from 6-9 p.m. Friday, July 15. Call 683-4541.
