Water and health seminar

A free viewing of the movie “Your Brain on Water” is slated for 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, at The Natural Healing Clinic, 162 S. Barr Road. Dr. Corinne Allen talks about benefits of hydrating one’s body for all sorts of conditions from fatigue to dementia. Allen also teaches a dehydration test.

In addition, a free water education seminar is scheduled for 7 p.m. Learn about the differences between bottled, well, reverse osmosis and ionized water as it relates to your health. Customer day scheduled at Home Depot

A customer appreciation event at Sequim’s The Home Depot (1145 W. Washington St.) is scheduled for 9 a.m.-noon, Saturday, May 3.

The event offers a free child identification program to include a kit.

The event also includes games, prizes, a free youth workshop, free cotton candy and snow cones, live music provided by Luke Meeker and more than 30 vendors with giveaways. Curbside Bistro is back for the day serving hot dogs.

Gabi Lahmeyer has joined the team of stylists at JC Penneys.

Lahmeyer is available Monday–Friday, 1-7 p.m. specializing in haircuts, colors, perms and manicures/pedicures.

The Cedars hosts a ‘demo day’

The Cedars at Dungeness hosts Callaway/Adams Demo Day from noon-5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14.

Millwork now open Sundays

Beginning on May 4, Angeles Millwork & Lumber Co. will be open on Sundays from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Located at 1601 S. C St. in Port Angeles, Angeles Millwork carries lumber, building materials, hardware, paint and tools.

The store also is open from 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Monday-Friday and on Saturdays from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Contractor honored

Hines Construction Inc. of Sequim and owner Jerry Hines recently were recognized by Homes for Our Troops and the Building Industry Association of Washington for their role as a Build Partner and leadership during the construction of Cpl. Ammon Lang’s Homes for Our Troops project in Port Angeles.

Hines was presented a plaque at a recent North Peninsula Building Association general membership meeting. Additionally, the Building Industry Association of Washington awarded Hines the 2014 Associate Advisory Council Builder Appreciation Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the building industry.

Jones is certified

The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners recently awarded Jill M. Jones of Port Angeles the Certified Fraud Examiner credential.

To become qualified, Jones had to meet a set of criteria, pass an exam and demonstrate knowledge in for areas: fraudulent financial transactions, fraud prevention and deterrence, legal elements of fraud and fraud investigation.

Jones is the tribal gaming audit supervisor for the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe in Blyn.
