What’s new at the market this week is we are excited to celebrate fall with the locally grown produce that we are fortunate to have at our finger tips. M & H Farm did miss a week but they are not done yet! Come and see Mary and Herman Horst at the west end of Cedar Street to purchase their fall harvest. Nash’s Organic Produce continues to bring in the greens, reds, oranges and yellows. This week featuring Sequim-grown celery.
With the harvest season here the market farm booths are full of produce. Try something new this week? Pick out a vegetable you don’t know, go home and look up a recipe online that includes that vegetable plus something you love like garlic, olives or asiago cheese and see what you can find. Let us know what you discover and we can share it with our readers.
Shirley Mercer’s Art is newly featuring “write-on” calendars and mini art. Shirley’s watercolors include holiday, winter and floral scenes. Susan Zuspan of Let’s Do Lavender says, “I will be making lavender wands at my booth on Saturday. I’m happy to share the technique as time permits. I’ve been working on them for the past few Saturdays and people have been curious and interested in what they are and how they are made.” New with Victoria Wickell are illustrations from the third book she and Gene Bradbury and I are working on, come and see the original paintings. Scarves by Patricia Wilkins tells me “Whats new in my booth: hand-dyed with custom colors 100 percent silk camisoles and boxer shorts for ladies. Also Satin Devore (burn out) scarves with different patterns: twigs, water, art nouveau, polka dot and specks.”
New at the market this year are our beautiful flags and new orange signs you have seen around town. These upgrades to our market are thanks to our many sponsors.
The music on Oct. 6 will be the Songbirds. Come hear this female duo sing folk and traditional songs while playing a variety of instruments. On Oct. 13 Elise Bueke, a Sequim youth, will be singing for our market. Come support local music!
The market will be hosting its second annual Community Potluck and Silent Auction from 4-6 p.m. Oct. 28. Come check out some fabulous silent auction deals and visit with the market at Pioneer Park.
The market will be open on Cedar Street until Nov. 10 and then on Nov. 17 we will have our annual Holiday Show indoors at the Guy Cole Center at Carrie Blake Park from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
