Guests at Olympic View Inn might notice some small changes next time they book a room at the hotel in Sequim with new ownership as of November.
Crystal Investment Property LLC, a licensed Washington brokerage, announced the sale of Olympic View Inn on its website on Nov. 28.
The company represented the hotel’s previous owners, Edward and Monica Boyd, in the sale to new owner Chintu Patel, a Forks resident of 10 years who owns several hotels across the Olympic Peninsula.
“Crystal Investment Property, LLC, a member of Hotel Brokers International, announced the successful sale of the Olympic View Inn in Sequim,” the company’s website stated.
Patel said he’s had an eye on this hotel for several years and tried to bid on the property the same time Edward did about six years ago when the Boyds bought it. He said he jumped at the opportunity when it went back on the market this year.
“Edward had a higher bid and I always regretted not putting the extra mile in,” Patel said. “When he put it back on the market it was my second chance.”
Olympic View Inn was known as Red Ranch Inn before it closed in 2011.
Patel also owns Royal Victorian Motel in Port Angeles, Manresa Castle Hotel and Aladdin Motor Inn in Port Townsend, Dew Drop Inn and Forks Motel in Forks and Apple Inn Motel in Lake Chelan. He said these are all independent hotels and that he enjoys creating a boutique hotel experience for guests.
“I typically stay away from franchises,” Patel said. “Being independent we can offer so much more service than with a franchise.”
Patel said he bought the hotel in mid-November for about $2.6 million.
“What attracted me the most was the extensive renovations to it,” Patel said.
“(Edward) spent the last few years renovating the property from the ground up, doing plumbing to electrical work, carpet, and amenities. He’s done a quite a bit of work.”
Patel said as far as any changes with new ownership, he plans on changing a few small aspects of the hotel, such as new bedding, electronic locks on rooms, and installing high definition television and movies, but does not have plans for any major changes.
“It’s still going to run as an independent hotel,” he said. “We’re still in the beginning stages.”
Patel said he has kept all of the hotel staff and plans to add more staff with the summer season.
