May 2 is opening day! A great time to buy a gift for Mom for Mothers Day!
The Sequim Farmers Market is thrilled to be kicking off this season at our new location. Like last year, we will be on the corner of Sequim Avenue and Washington Street, plus the large open lot east of Jose’s Famous Salsa.
After 19 years on Cedar Street and now one year downtown, we are stronger than ever. The new location was a welcomed change.
Being part of the downtown core has been a huge benefit to our market. We are grateful to the City of Sequim, Bill Littlejohn and the downtown merchants that supported our move. We also are grateful to our proud sponsors BrokersGroup Realty, the Sequim Lavender Growers Association and the Bell & Davis Law Firm.
This season we are starting off with at least six new vendors, three of which are growers. We are excited to welcome Olympic Lavender Heritage Farm, Itsy Bitsy Greens, Sea Basket Farm, From Flat Tire to Evening Attire, Wire Stone Wood and Rowdy Gypsy Designs. You will learn all about them through the column as the season progresses. Come meet them at the market.
With the exceptional high school senior Katherine Landoni as assistant manager for the third year and me entering my sixth year as market manager, please come and learn all about the market in the market booth. We accept vendors on a rolling basis throughout the season, so it is never too late to start.
Farmers markets have taken off around the country, from cities to small towns. In the past 15 years, according to the USDA, over 5,405 new farmers markets have opened.
We invite you to come downtown each Saturday through October to visit and help our local market thrive alongside so many others.
See you at the market.
