There is an abundance of newness at the Sequim Farmers Market this year!

We are most ecstatic about our new location. As you know, our previous location is undergoing a tremendous overhaul and we are relocated for this season and likely the next as well. You can find some of the market at the corner of Sequim Avenue and Washington Street in Centennial Place. You can find the rest of the market, including the music, food, picnic tables and community booths just east on Washington Street.

Bill Littlejohn has generously granted us the use of the open lot on the east side of Jose’s Famous Salsa and the Sequim Vision Center. We are overjoyed and grateful for this opportunity to use such a central space in the downtown. Thank you, Bill and Esther Littlejohn.

As an important outlet for local farm products, the Farmers Market is proud to announce that we have added new farms. We are thrilled to introduce SpringRain Farm and Orchard to Sequim. This 26-acre farm residing in Chimacum will be bringing fresh pasture-raised organic chicken eggs, stewing hens, salad mix, plant starts, braising mix, spinach and asparagus to get us started on May 10. They will continue to add to this list of delightful things as the season goes on.

We also have added Hayton Farm. Established in 1876, this fifth-generation farm will be coming from Skagit Valley each week to bring us fresh berries and more. They grow a great variety of strawberries, blueberries, blackberries and raspberries. They will join us when the strawberries come ripe in June.

We welcome Rowland Family Farm to Sequim. They will be bringing their garden harvest and pastured eggs.

Nash’s Organic Produce will join us on opening day this year with lots of their freshly ground flour, grains and leeks. Another farm, Farmlife will be with us once more, bringing the bounty from their greenhouse and plant starts in the spring. The Family Farm also will join us again, bringing flowers and plants in the spring. So hold on to your hats as more and more produce flows in while the season moves forward.

We also have some fun new craft vendors. One new vendor is a young man named Clayton Morris who has a new business called Lost Mountain Log Furniture. He is selling rough, yet beautiful indoor and outdoor furniture made of local cedar. We are thrilled to add Lost Mountain Log Furniture to the market.

Mountain Propane and the Sequim Lavenders Growers Association also have given their sustained support to the Farmers Market. Finally we would like to express our gratitude for our newest proud sponsor, Union Bank, which began sponsoring us last year and keenly stepped forward to participate this year. Without the generous support of these tremendous businesses our market would not thrive. Music on May 3 will be Cort Armstrong’s Open Mic session with some special guests. On May 10 Howly Slim and Sandy Somers will be singing and playing their guitars.

The Rotary Club will be selling ducks at the market during May in our Suzanne Arnold Community Booth starting on May 10.
