What’s Happening at the Market: Sequim Farmers & Artisans Market makes its return Saturday

Mark your calendars, call your friends, and get your reusable bags ready, because the Sequim Farmers & Artisans Market season starts on Saturday, May 4!

This year, the market will offer 47 vendors, weekly activities for kids and a funding match program that makes delicious food accessible to more people in our community.

The Market will run 9 a.m.-2 p.m. every Saturday from through the end of the October.

This Saturday at 9 a.m. in front of the Sequim Civic Center, 152 W. Cedar St., the market will open with its annual ribbon cutting event, and the first 50 people with reusable bags will receive a $2 voucher. The first Saturday of every month is also “Kids Day,” so the first 50 children will receive a $3 voucher they can use to buy fruits or veggies. At 12:30 p.m., the Sequim High School Operetta club will stop by to perform a few songs from their musical comedy production of “The Addams Family.”

Last season, the market offered a free kids activity once per month that gave little ones an opportunity to play and make friends in the community. It was so popular that a kids activity booth will be offered on every market day this season. This Saturday, youngsters can try their hand at wool fiber arts provided by Myco, a Wild Child Arts Education instructor.

One of the ways the market creates access to healthy, locally-grown food is through the Growing Your Market Match with Sound Community Bank program. If you are someone who has an SNAP/EBT, WIC or Senior FMNP card, you are eligible for additional funding that can be spent on certain foods at the market. Each program is eligible for different amounts each season, so be sure to visit the market’s information booth to learn more.

There will be so much good food, great music, and fun for everyone at the Sequim Farmers & Artisans Market this season. To stay up-to-date on what’s happening each week, tune in to KSQM 91.5FM at 2 p.m. on Fridays follow the market on Instagram (@sequimmarket) and Facebook, or sign up for the newsletter at sequimmarket.com.
