More than 500 participants were registered to run/walk 5k and 1k races, which were among the events offered during the third annual Sunshine Festival on Friday and Saturday.

Sequim’s Melia Nelson competes in the 100-yard butterfly race against Port Angeles at the Shore Aquatic Center in Port Angeles on Oct. 5.
