In denial

It is now clear the decisions of the feckless Democratic leadership in Washington state have unleashed today’s exorbitant prices of vital commodities nationwide. Ironically, these enormous price increases are disproportionately burdened on the very shoulders of working class families Democrats religiously purport to be champions of the common man. The poor and downtrodden.

Nevertheless, the ruling aristocracy in Washington flatly says “no” to the crucial XL pipeline so desperately needed to transport prodigious quantities of vital oil while simultaneously closing off all Federal lands to exploration and drilling. A reckless policy denying the country of affordable energy which is and will be the lifeblood of our economy for many more years before alternative energy sources can be phased in.

The economic damage of the onerous mandated lockdowns, compounded by the governments aversion to supporting the domestic carbon fuel industry, coupled with a bloated multi-trillion dollar stimulus package has whipped the flames of inflation, manifested in burgeoning consumer prices for everyone. Economics 101!

Responsible voters still have an opportunity to make amends and perhaps miraculously turn things around. Only a sweeping turnover in the midterm elections might save our economy from a long and painful bout of stagflation.

A short while ago we had a booming diverse economy, affordable housing and much lower consumer prices. Our cities were not being trashed. Criminals were held accountable and America felt a much safer place.

And then the election!

Democracy’s end

As Putin’s Ukraine invasion continues, America sees the end of democracy and increase in chaos/violence due to corrupt politicians and media personalities!

In America, many only care how their lives are being affected.

Some GOP states’ laws now pit state residents against each other — for profit! 13(+) percent of ballot registrations were rejected in Texas thanks to the new restrictive laws the GOP is trying to get passed throughout the country! How many American citizens will be denied the right to vote in 2022?

If the GOP takes over, how few citizens will be allowed the “privilege” to vote in 2024? All government programs, assistance and benefits will be gone, basic human rights and freedoms gone! Everything good about America will be gutted!

The GOP believes in self-power and self-profit only, no matter the price or consequences! People in Ukraine are being slaughtered. The GOP and their members would rather waste time whining, claiming they’re the only real victims the world should be focusing on because they have to pay higher prices at the gas pump!

The world should be uniting to help Ukraine defeat a monster! Can adults in America grow up and think of something besides themselves? Imagine if Putin invaded your area instead of Ukraine? Wouldn’t you want the rest of the world to help? (Remember when NATO and allied nations came to America’s aid after 9/11?)

Or do we follow the GOP’s Me Only/“America First” beliefs and philosophies?

Big spenders

In regard to “Lawmakers OK funds for mental crisis center,” (Sequim Gazette, March 16, page A-1):

With millions of people currently becoming homeless due to aggressive, unprovoked war actions of a foreign government, our local lawmakers push for an astonishing $2,140,625 dollars per bed, for housing 16 people in our community.

No one can spend money like our government.
