93 Days of Summer: June 28-July 4

June 28

This week/weekend is the last chance to catch Olympic Theatre Arts’ “Leaving Iowa.” It’s a 7:30 p.m. showtime at OTA’s stage at 414 N. Sequim Ave. Other showtimes include 7:30 p.m. June 29-30 and a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday, July 1. See www.olympictheatrearts.org.

June 29

Get a taste of local history with a visit to the Sequim Museum & Arts Exhibit Center at 175 W. Cedar St., including stories and artifacts from pioneer families and the Manis Mastodon discovery. See sequimmuseum.com or call 360-681-2257.

June 30

Ever seen alpacas up close? Take a tour of the Happy Valley Alpaca Ranch at 4629 Happy Valley Road from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. for some unique local shopping and wildlife. While you’re there, and check out live glassblowing demonstrations across the field at Molten Momma’s Hot Shop.

July 1

Take a visit to Dungeness Valley Creamery (1915 Towne Road), and meet the staff and animals while you stock up on milk, cream, eggs, hamburger, cheese, cookies, and chocolate. The farm store is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Saturday. (www.dungenessvalleycreamery.com, 683-0716)

July 2

Explore local native history at the Makah Cultural and Research Center. The museum interprets and houses 300-500 year old artifacts recovered from the Ozette Archaeological Site. (makahmuseum.com, 360-645-2711)

July 3

Discover what’s lurking underneath the streets of your neighboring town with the Port Angeles Chamber of Commerce’s Guided Walking Tours, starting at 10:30 a.m. at 121 E. Railroad Ave. Tickets are $6-$12 (children 6 and younger free); call 360-452-2363, x0.

July 4

Fourth of July celebrations abound on the peninsula. Catch the Sequim City Band’s free Independence Day concert at the James Center for Performing Arts (just north of Carrie Blake Community Park), 350 N. Blake Ave. See story, this page, and www.sequimcityband.org. Later in the day, check out Port Angeles’ Concerts on the Pier (6 p.m.) and fireworks display (10 p.m.).
