‘A Taste of Art’ set for February show at Ramen Shop

Local artist Carrie Rodlend’s “A Taste of Art” series of reimagined works from 18th-20th century artists will be on display and for sale at The Ramen Shop, 138 W. Washington St., throughout February.

Rodlend, a Dungeness art teacher for more than 40 years, will be on hand for the meet-and-greet from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, during the First Friday Art Walk.

Desserts will be served along with live eclectic, semi-acoustic folk, jazz and roots music.

Rodlend’s work spans “The Storm” by Diaz De La Peña from 1871 to Claude Monet’s “Wild Poppies” (1873) to Vincent van Gogh’s “The Langlois Bridge” in 1888 to Edward Hopper’s “Chop Suey” in 1929.

All 12 art pieces are framed. A large collection of drawings is available for free or for a minimal donation of $5 to the Ramen Shop, a nonprofit extension of Calvary Chapel Sequim.

Rodlend was a fixture in local schools starting in 1982 with her “Carrie Art” program for students in Sequim and later across the Olympic Peninsula before retiring from public instruction in 2019. For more information about her art, email to monalisa@olypen.com.

The Ramen Shop is open 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday-Friday.
