Symphony hosts Young Artist Competitions

The Port Angeles Symphony Orchestra hosts its 27th annual Young Artist Competition and its seventh annual Junior Young Artist Competition from 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 301 Lopez Ave., Port Angeles. Competition judges offer insights into the performances presented.

The Junior Young Artists Competition opens the day, with the Young Artists Competition beginning at approximately 11:30 a.m. The event is free and audience members may arrive or leave anytime between performances during the day.

Bella Italia hosts live music

Bella Italia, 118 E. First St., Port Angeles, hosts Third Thursday Live events each month, with no cover, live music and food and drink specials. Playing Jan. 17 will be the String Theory Band. Reservations are recommended. Call 457-5442.

Blues Counselors play dance

The nonprofit Olympic Peninsula Dance keeps partner dancing alive, hosting The Blues Counselors at the Port Townsend Elks Club, 555 Otto St., Friday, Jan. 18.

Double-time Swing lesson is at 7p.m., free with $15 admission. The Blues Counselors play at 8 p.m.

P.A. Garden Club gets into bees

Mary Flo Bruce presents “Mason Bee Culture” at the Monday, Jan. 21, meeting of the Port Angeles Garden Club at First Presbyterian Church, 139 W. Eighth  St., Port Angeles.

A 10 a.m. business meeting is followed by Bruce’s discussion of ways to cultivate the useful mason bees. Sack lunch is at 12:30 p.m. Guests are welcome.

Monday Musicale hosts pianist

Monday Musicale meets at noon the third Monday of each month (September-June) at Queen of Angel Catholic Church, 209 W. 11th St., Port Angeles. Program follows at 1 p.m. Pianist Lorraine Martin performs for the Jan. 21 meeting.

Snowgrass returns to PA

First Step Family Support Center presents the 11th annual Snowgrass Concert at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at the Port Angeles High School auditorium, 304 E. Park Ave.

Emcee Denny Secord Jr. introduces music from The Fiddle Kids, the Old Sidekicks, Crescent Blue and Luck of the Draw.

Tickets are $10 ($12 at door), $7 seniors, free for youth 10 and under.

Soroptimists host ‘Night at the Theatre’

Sequim Soroptimists hosts its annual “Night at the Theatre” fundraiser Monday, Feb. 11, at Olympic Theatre Arts playhouse, 414 N. Sequim Ave. in Sequim. Entertainment is the award-winning musical comedy “Little Shop of Horrors.” Tickets, $27 per person, include pre-show appetizers (6:45 p.m.) before the 7:30 p.m. performance and sweets at intermission.
