Enter photos in Watershed contest

Cash prizes will be awarded in the Dungeness Watershed photo contest held to mark the 25th anniversary of the Dungeness River Management Team. Sponsored by the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe, the contest invites entries depicting the vision of the Dungeness Watershed as a home shared by forests, farms, fish and friends (people).

Cash prizes of $250/$100/$50 will be awarded and photos may be used (with credit) in DRMT’s website and other material.

“Plume” by Washington Poet Laureate Kathleen Flenniken is the selection for the PALS book discussion group at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, at the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St. Print copies of the book are available at the library while supplies last. Drop-ins are always welcome.

‘Refugee All Stars’ at Magic of Cinema

The story of the “Sierra Leone’s Refugee All Stars” screens in Peninsula College’s Magic of Cinema series at 7 p.m. Friday, April 26, in Maier Performance Hall, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles.

The PBS “Point of View” documentary shows six Sierra Leonean musicians who formed a band and were saved through their common love of music.

The Refugee All Stars perform at the Juan de Fuca Festival of the Arts on Memorial Day Weekend.

Symphony welcomes pianist for fundraiser

Pianist Alexander Tutunov returns to Port Angeles as the principal guest artist of the Port Angeles Symphony for a fundraising concert at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 4, in Maier Hall at Peninsula College, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles.

The program includes music by Bach, Brahms, Beethoven, Prokofiev and Tchaikovsky.

Create hanging baskets

Wayne Roedell of Wayne’s Nursery teaches classes on making 16-inch hanging moss baskets on Saturday April 27, and Sunday April 28.

There are two 90-minute classes each day: 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., at the Louella N. Lawrence Farm, 704 Lawrence Road, in Freshwater Bay.

Documentary screening for funds

Rory Kennedy’s documentary “Ethel” — a film about her mother and the Kennedy family — screens as the Peninsula College Foundation hosts an American Conversations Movie Night fundraiser at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 4, in the Peninsula College Little Theater, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles.

Admission is by donation; wine and popcorn will be for sale. All proceeds benefit students, staff/faculty and programs at P.C.
