City Band plays summer finale
The Sequim City Band gives its final outdoor concert of the season at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, in the James Center For the Performing Arts, 563 N. Rhodefer Dr. near Carrie Blake Park. In addition to marches, the program includes Handel’s "Royal Fireworks Music," Saurer’s "Steamboat Stomp," "A Tribute to HarryJames," a medley of songs by The Association, and Red Skelton’s "The Grand Marshal." The concert is free; bring lawn chairs, blankets, hats and sunscreen.
Documentary screens at Nash’s
The film “Bitter Seeds” will be screened free at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, at Nash’s Farm Store, 4681 Sequim-Dungeness Way in Dungeness. Directed by Micha X. Peled, the film deals with the consequences of the dissemination of Monsanto’s genetically engineered seed in India. Members of Sequim’s GMO Awareness Group introduce the film and lead a discussion afterwards.
Community Christmas Chorus open
Sequim Community Christmas Chorus holds its first rehearsal at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, at Sequim Bible Church, 847 N. Sequim Ave. All are welcome; no auditions. The chorus presents three performances Nov. 29-Dec. 1.
Reading and reception scheduled
A reading by poet and Seattle Times columnist Mary Lou Sanelli and the unveiling of the new donors’ mural painted by Lynette Brown are scheduled from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, at Nash’s Farm Store, 4681 Sequim-Dungeness Way.

‘451’ discussion covers novel, graphic novel
Celebrating Freedom to Read and Banned Books week, the PALS book discussion group takes up Ray Bradbury’s classic "Fahrenheit 451," along with Tim Hamilton’s graphic novel adaptation, at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, at the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St.
Print copies of both books, and other media versions of the novel, are available through the library. Port Book and News offers a 20-percent discount on both.

KSQM-FM goes Broadway
KSQM-FM presents "Broadway Melodies," an evening of dinner, music and silent auction, from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at the 7 Cedars Casino, 270756 U.S. Highway 101, Blyn. Each table will reflect one of 30 Broadway musicals and attendees may dress in appropriate costume. Music is by the Blue Notes Jazz Band.
