Mysterious memories talk set at library

“Before I Go to Sleep” by S.J. Watson will be discussed at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave. The novel focuses on memories, real and false. Copies are available in various formats including regular print, audiobook on CD and downloadable e-book.

Chekov farces play in PA

The Port Angeles Community Players present two one-act farces by Anton Chekov at 7:30 p.m. Friday-Saturday, April 8-9, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 10. “The Proposal” and “The Bear” are known for their fast-paced dialogue and situational humor.

Tickets are $10 and available only at the door of the Port Angeles Community Playhouse, 1235 E. Lauridsen Blvd.


Turin debuts new CD

Local Celtic musician Mary Tulin will be celebrating the release of her new solo CD “Till Now” at Sequim’s Wind Rose Cellars, 143 W. Washington St., from 7-9 p.m. Friday, April 8.

Tulin is a regular performer at Wind Rose Cellars and other area venues and festivals. Her new CD is her first solo effort, after many years touring and recording with bands Banshee in the Kitchen and Fret Noir, with whom she produced six albums in just over a decade.

Turin will be joined by CJ Henderson on the bodhran or Irish frame drum.


Fiddlers rosin up bows

Saturday, April 9, the Washington Old Time Fiddlers Association meets and performs at Sequim Prairie Grange, 290 Macleay Road, Sequim. Doors open at 9 a.m., open jamming starts at 9:30 a.m.

A business meeting is at 11 a.m., then open jamming continues to 1:30 p.m. Free, group fiddle lessons for members and non-members for those 13 and under are from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

On-stage performances by WOTFA members are from 1:30-3:30 p.m. are free and open to the public; donations are welcome.

Photo class offered

Topics in Photography will be offered at the Dungeness River Audubon Center, 2151 W. Hendrickson Road in Sequim, at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 21, one of four drop-in sessions, each lasting one and a half hours.

Content includes telling stories with photos, the importance of individual perspective for unique one-of-a-kind photos, the ability of any camera to produce great photos, from expensive SLRs to point-and-shoots to cell phones, controlling the light entering the camera; challenging what your camera is telling you is “right,” and more.

The class fee is $10 per session and students can attend just one or all sessions. No registration is necessary.


Harpists to play Celtic music in Port Angeles

Northern California Celtic harpists and multi-instrumentalists Lisa Lynne and Aryeh Frankfurter are featured musicians at 7 p.m. Monday, April 18, at The Unity in the Olympics, 2917 E. Myrtle St., Port Angeles.

The show includes Lynne and Frankfurter playing two Celtic harps, the rare Swedish Nyckelharpa and assorted instruments from the mandolin, cittern and bouzouki family.

Sequim musician Mary Tulin is featured in the show as well.
