Story Slam postponed

With the increase in COVID-19 cases throughout the county, organizers of the Story Slam event slated for Friday, Jan. 21, at Olympic Theatre Arts are postponing the Sequim event.

Story Slam returns to OTA on Friday, March 18, with the theme “Habits.”

In the meantime, Story Slam is on tap Friday, Feb. 11, at Studio Bob in Port Angeles with the theme “After Dark.”

Woodturners set January meeting

The Strait Turners Woodturning Club meets at noon on Tuesday, Jan. 25, on Ring Central (virtual).

The group’s presenter this month is David Ellsworth from Weaverville, N.C. He has been turning since 1974 and will be demonstrating turning a natural-edged bowl for attendees.

The club, established in 2016, generally meets the last Tuesday of the month at the Gardiner Community Center; club members say they do not have a date yet for when they will resume in-person meetings.

Make cocoa ‘bombs’ with library kit

Beginning Friday, Jan. 21, patrons of the local North Olympic Library System (NOLS) can pick up a DIY Hot Cocoa Bomb Take & Make kit.

Kits include ingredients to make the hot cocoa bomb, silicone molds, instructions and a list of ingredients. User will also need milk (or water), a microwave, a spoon and a mug.

This activity is suggested for ages 5 and older; adult supervision highly recommended.
