Indigo Girls concert to cap PT Film Festival

Indigo Girls, the legendary folk-rock duo, will perform at Fort Worden State Park’s McCurdy Pavilion in Port Townsend on Monday, Sept. 25, to close out the Port Townsend Film Festival.

The concert marks the first time that the Indigo Girls have performed in Port Townsend, and accents the film festival that features two different Indigo Girls related films. “It’s Only Life After All” is a documentary which delves into the 40-year journey of band members Amy Ray and Emily Saliers, while “ Glitter & Doom” is an original jukebox musical queer romance featuring remixed hit songs of the Indigo Girls.

Tickets for the Indigo Girls concert go on sale Wednesday, July 12. Get tickets at centrum.na.ticketsearch.com/sales/salesevent/15610.

Sequim Toastmasters to tackle terrifying topics

Featured speaker Abdulfettah “Fettah” Ennayal will offer “Tackling table topics for the truly terrified” at the next Skwim Toastmasters meeting, set for 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 18, at the KSQM 91.5 FM broadcasting office, 609 W. Washington St.

The event is free and open to the public. Register at skwimttt@eventbrite.com.

Ennayal has been a member of Toastmasters since 2015, at one time belonging to 13 clubs; now he belongs to “only” eight. He will help attendees learn: if fear of public speaking reality or a myth; how to create a toolbox filled with ways to spice up extemporaneous speeches, and how to gain confidence to handle any table topic thrown your way.

Skwim Toastmasters is part of Toastmasters International, a worldwide nonprofit educational organization that “empowers individuals to become more effective communicators and leaders.” The Sequim club meets every Tuesday from 7-8:30 p.m. at the KSQM 91.5 FM broadcasting office.
