Anglers to meet

Puget Sound Anglers North Olympic Peninsula Chapter will host an open-to-the-public general meeting on Wednesday, July 16 at the Sequim Elks Lodge, 143 Port Williams Road. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting starts at 7.

The guest speaker will be Don New, managing director of Hatcher & Wild Coexist. His talk will cover Hatcher & Wild Coexist’s work highlighting the importance of hatcheries, the role they play in wild fish recovery and ultimately how they can provide for both wild fish and abundant fisheries.

New has run multiple marketing firms serving clients from Sports Illustrated to Intel, and has been a board member at organizations that include Oregon Wildlife Heritage Foundation, CCA Oregon and CCA National.

Documentary screening

Indivisible Sequim will host screenings of “We the People Ride,” a new documentary about cross-country rides for justice, on Thursday, July 24.

The screenings will take place at 1:30 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. at Olympic Theatre Arts, 414 N. Sequim Ave.

The showings will be hosted by Doug Pagitt, a pastor, bicyclist and executive director of Vote Common Good.

The film chronicles a 3,200-mile, 66-day journey along the entire United States/Mexico border and the U.S. coastline. Pagitt and his team rode daily to listen, learn, and advocate for the common good — meeting border residents, activists, and communities whose voices are too often left out of national conversations.

“As we biked across the country along the U.S./Mexico border, we heard the stories of the people who live and work on the border — those who know the best way forward for our immigration and border practices,” Pagitt stated in a press release. “We have heard incredible stories, and now it is time to share them with the world. These scenes provide some of the most stirring and personal stories of our entire journey.”

Seats are limited and reservations are required. Visit indivisiblesequim.org/event-list to reserve seats.

Donations will be collected at the door.
