Northwest Elements exhibit
The Sequim Arts Commission invites artists to submit work for the upcoming juried exhibition “Northwest Elements,” to be displayed in the Karen Kuznek-Reese Gallery at the Sequim Civic Center, 152 W. Cedar St., Sept. 5 through Oct. 20.
“Northwest Elements” is an exhibit that will celebrate the raw beauty, cultural richness, and elemental forces that define the Pacific Northwest. Inspired by the region’s iconic landscapes — towering evergreens, misty coastlines, mountain peaks, and rain-washed skies — this exhibition honors the natural and cultural elements that shape life in the Northwest.
From the serenity of moss-draped forests to the power of Pacific surf and the quiet resilience of community, “Northwest Elements” seeks to reflect the deep and enduring connections between people and place.
Artists are encouraged to explore the theme through literal, symbolic, or emotional interpretations. Submissions in all visual media are welcome, including but not limited to painting, sculpture, photography, fiber, mixed media and ceramics.
To enter, complete the online form at https://form.jotform.com/251666851258163. Artists are allowed to submit up to two pieces of art, but each piece will need a separate entry form.
The deadline to submit artwork is Monday, July 21 at 4 p.m. Artwork will be juried by the Sequim Arts Commission by Monday, July 28, and notifications will go out to artists by mid-August. Only digital applications will be considered.

Garden Tour Walk-About
The Garden Tour Walk-About at Woodcock Demonstration Gardens, 2711 Woodcock Road in Sequim, will take place at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 10.
Pack your lunch, put on your sun hat and come take an educational and relaxing walk with Master Gardener Pam Pace. Guests can meet up with Pace in the covered pavilion where they will be given a walking tour guide and the Clallam County Master Gardeners’ 2025 event schedule.
The walk will focus on participants’ interests as well as perennial and seasonal flowers and shrubs that are in bloom. The shade garden provides a cool spot to stroll. The mason bee pollinators are busy in the orchards and the herbs in the culinary and medicinal beds are ready for the kitchen table.
The fragrance of herbs and flowers fill the air and the wide selection of berry bushes are in flower. The mushroom garden has fruiting bodies ready for production. Columbines, roses, calendulas and fruit trees are all now in bloom waiting for busy pollinators.
After the tour, guests will be free to stroll around the gardens and speak with Master Gardeners while they work or relax with a picnic lunch at one of the picnic tables.
The Woodcock Demonstration Garden is a 2.74-acre site that has been in operation for over 38 years and is open to the public for educational purposes.
PACP to hold auditions
The Port Angeles Community Players (PACP) have announced auditions for their 2025/26 season opening production of the award-winning comedy farce “The Foreigner,” by Larry Shue.
Set in a rural Georgia fishing lodge, “The Foreigner” follows two Englishmen, Charlie Baker and Staff Sergeant Froggy LeSueur. Shy and depressed, Charlie reluctantly joins Froggy on a getaway after his ill wife urges him to take a break. He tells Froggy he simply cannot speak with strangers just now.
When the locals try to chat him up, Charlie panics, so Froggy concocts a story: Charlie doesn’t speak English because he’s a “foreigner” from a far-off land. The lodge’s guests believe the fib and begin spilling their secrets, never suspecting Charlie understands every word, and Charlie soon discovers dangerous and not so dangerous scandals that pressure him to somehow intervene.
Directed by Rebecca Gilbert, this production calls for five men and two women. Rehearsals will be held three evenings a week to start, increasing to four nights (and possibly one weekend daytime rehearsal) as opening night approaches.
Auditions will be Thursday, July 17 at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday, July 19 at 2 p.m. at the PACP Playhouse, 1235 E. Lauridsen Blvd. Scripts are available to preview at the Port Angeles and Sequim public libraries.
Performances for “The Foreigner” will be every Friday and Tuesday at 7 p.m. (new earlier curtain time) and every Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. from Sept. 26 through Oct. 12.
