Storytimes return at library system
The North Olympic Library System is resurrecting the Rain or Shine! Outdoor Storytime series to be held April 1 through May 31. This all-ages storytime features stories, music, rhymes and plenty of movement and fun. Activities such as talking, reading, playing and singing all play an important role in early childhood development, library representatives say.
Storytimes at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave., will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesdays in the field behind the library.
Storytimes at the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody st., are 10:30 a.m. on Fridays.
In Forks, Storytimes are 10:30 a.m. on Fridays at 10:30am at Tillicum Park.
Programs take place outside, rain or shine! Attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket to sit on and a way to keep dry if it’s rainy.
This program is supported by local Friends of the Library groups.

Libraries, parks host poetry walks
This spring the North Olympic Library System is teaming up with Olympic National Park to offer their annual Poetry Walks. This year’s program begins April 1 and continue through May 31, and features inspiring poetry along five trails in Olympic National Park.
“The Library and Olympic hope the playful combination of nature and art will encourage residents and visitors to get out and be active, and remind them of two great local resources that are always available to explore,” NOLS representatives said last week.
During Poetry Walks, poems will be placed on signs along the following trails in Olympic National Park: the Hall of Mosses Trail, the Living Forest Trail, the Madison Creek Falls Trail, the Spruce Railroad Trail and the Peabody Creek Trail. With the exception of the Hall of Mosses Trail, access is free.
Poets featured along the trails include Mary Oliver, Ross Gay, Jericho Brown, Tim McNulty and others. Those who find themselves inspired to write a poem or take a photo while on one of the Poetry Walks are encouraged to share it on NOLS’ Facebook page or share it with their friends on Twitter with #FindYourPark.
