Chorale plans concerts

The Northwest Women’s Chorale will have a pair of concerts with the theme of “Folksong Fantasia.” The concerts are at 7 p.m. Friday, May 6, at the Dungeness Valley Lutheran Church, 925 N. Sequim Ave., in Sequim; and at 7 p.m. Monday, May 9, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 301 S. Lopez Ave., Port Angeles. A suggested donation of $15 at the door.


Driftwood artists plan show

The Peninsula Driftwood Artists will have its 47th annual show in conjunction with the first weekend of the Sequim Irrigation Festival. The show is from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, May 7, in Pioneer Park, 387 E. Washington St., Sequim. Its theme is “Revealing the beauty within” and there will be demonstrations, a raffle and prizes.


Flugelhornist at Peninsula College

Renowned flugelhornist Dmitri Matheny will return to Peninsula College by popular demand when he presents, “Music in the Digital Age: A Music Business Workshop,” from 3-5 p.m. Friday, May 13, in Maier Performance Hall.

Matheny will be discussing several facets of the contemporary music business during the clinic. He will take questions from the audience as well. This event, sponsored by the Peninsula College Department of Music, is free and open to the public.

Folk songs with a Latin accent

Northwest Heritage Resources will present a concert performance in partnership with the Mangrove Action Project, by the traditional musical group, Sin Fronteras (Without Borders).

The concert is at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 14, at the Naval Elks Lodge’s third floor ballroom, 131 E. First St., Port Angeles. The group plays a type of Latin American folk music called the “nueva canción” or “new song.” Suggested donation for the concert is $15 at the door. No advance ticket sales.

Pair of concerts to feature cello

Olympic Peninsula native Traci Winters is the featured soloist in two Port Angeles Chamber concerts at 7 p.m., in Port Angeles on Friday, May 13, and in Sequim on Saturday, May 14.

Concerts are May 13 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 301 Lopez Ave., Port Angeles, and May 14 at the Sequim Worship Center, 640 N. Sequim Ave. Tickets are $12 for adults, youths 16 and under are admitted free when accompanied by an adult.

Ticket outlets include the Good Book-Joyful Noise Music Center, 108 W. Washington St., Sequim; Port Book and News, 104 E. First St., Port Angeles, and Sequim Village Glass, 761 Carlsborg Road, Carlsborg.

Tickets also are sold at the door both nights.
