Accordion social set
The Sequim Accordion Social will be held at the Shipley Center, 921 E. Hammond St., from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9. A $2 admission is requested at the door to pay for the room. The featured player is Einar Tapio from La Conner. All accordion players (bring your accordion) and accordion lovers are invited to attend. Contact 683-5620 for more information.
Fiddlers to gather, play
The Washington Old Time Fiddlers Association will meet at 11 a.m. and perform at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at the Sequim Prairie Grange, 290 Macleay Road, Sequim. Donations support fiddler scholarships. At 7 p.m. there will be a contra-dance. Suggested donation is $5 with 15 and under free with an accompanied adult.
Vietnam tale discussed
“The Headmaster’s Wager” by Vincent Lam will be discussed at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave. Copies of novel are available at the Sequim Library in various formats including regular print, audiobook on CD and downloadable e-book. They can be requested online by visiting the library catalog at www.nols.org. Pre-registration for this program is not required and drop-ins always are welcome.
‘StringStories’ presented
The Port Angeles Fine Arts Center, 1203 E. Lauridsen Blvd., presents Andre Feriante in his new seasonal show “StringStories” with a holiday twist at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23. Original music, medieval, classical and holiday songs all performed on exotic guitars ukuleles and banjos. Tickets are available online at www.pafac.org and are $12 for members and $15 for non-members.
Artifacts on display
A collection of Northwest Coastal native artifacts and historical photographs taken by Fannie Taylor (postmistress at Mora, 1914-1915) are on exhibit in the Peninsula College Longhouse Art Gallery through December. The collection is on loan from Olympic National Park. First Friday Storynight in P.T.
On Friday, Nov. 7, the Mythsinger Foundation and hostess Aimée Ringle invite you to Better Living Through Coffee, 100 Tyler St., Port Townsend, for an evening of music and stories in the oral tradition at First Friday Storynight. Donation of $10 suggested. This month, the guest teller will be British born storyteller and songster, Chris Gilbert who will be telling the story of Ewan MacColl, arguably the “Father of the U.K. Folk Song Revival,” and why he matters today, 25 years after his death.
