African violets highlight Garden Club talk Oct. 3

Following a successful first month, Sequim Prairie Garden Club continues to open its general, monthly meetings to the public on Monday, Oct. 3 in Pioneer Memorial Park clubhouse, 387 E Washington St., Sequim.

Coffee hour begins at 10 a.m. the first Monday each month, except holidays, with a guest speaker starting at 10:30 a.m.

Master Gardener John Wrightson talks about “Growing Gesneriads (African Violets),” and about his 30-plus years of experience with these plants. He’ll share “how-to’s” and bring some of his prized plants for show-and-tell. Masks are optional.

Club members also welcome park visitors to see a new outdoor sign by the back parking area designed by Jessica Diewald of In Graphic Detail that shares the history of the park.

Next year, the garden club will celebrate 75 years of creating and caring for the park and renting the clubhouse.
