Artists offer ‘A Feast of Art’ this weekend

Sequim artist Carrie Rodlend opens her studio space this weekend for a special holiday show “A Feast of Art.”

She’ll exhibit small to large works of realism to expressionism to abstract pieces with Florida-transplant David Willis from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at 562 Holgerson Road, off Lotzgesell Road.

Willis has 40-plus years of creating fine art and building/restoring furniture. He moved with his family in 2012 with a vision, he said, to devote a majority of his time and energy to creating new art.

In recent winters, he’s created more than 200 pieces that span many mediums from paintings to a series of boxes and a series of marbleized paper tubes.

Since moving here, Willis has put his skills to work on building sets for Olympic Theatre Arts’ many plays. The pair met through Susan Spar’s studio participating in life drawing classes.

They plan to offer an array of items such as cards, one-of-a-kind pieces of art, gift certificates for classes and art, and more. The friends offer seasonal light refreshments and Bill and William Jevne provide music.

Rodlend began teaching her “Carrie Art” in Sequim schools after moving to the area in 1982 and also offers private lessons for children and adults.
