Artist presents at Peninsula College’s ‘Studium’

Poet/photographer Keith Moul gives a multi-media presentation at Peninsula College as part of Studium Generale and the Foothills Writers Series at 12:35 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, in the Little Theater, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles.

Moul will be reading from two recently released chapbooks, “The Future as a Picnic Lunch in 2015” (Finishing Line Press) and “Naked Among Possibilities” (Aldrich Press). Soon to come is “Investment in Idolatry,” slated for a 2016 release, also from Finishing Line Press.

Jamestown S’Klallam Holiday Craft Fair on tap

The Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe hosts its seventh annual Native and Non-Native Holiday Craft Fair from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, in Red Cedar Hall in the Tribal Community Center 1033 Old Blyn Highway, Blyn.

The event features a selection of more than 30 vendors selling handmade items including textiles, ceramics, jewelry, native flutes, baskets, cards, dried flowers and more. It also includes a bake sale and a raffle of items donated by vendors.

All proceeds this year go directly to the tribe’s after-school program that serves native children of all tribes in the Sequim School District.

In addition, the fair will have a collection bin available for non-perishable food and personal hygiene items, to help stock the tribe’s food bank for winter.

‘Hunger Games’ is topic of Sequim Library book talk

“The Hunger Games” by Suzanne Collins will be discussed at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave. All are welcome to join.

Copies of “The Hunger Games” are available in various formats, including regular print, large print, audiobook on CD, Playaway, and downloadable e-book; they can be requested online by visiting the library catalog at www.nols.org.

Pine needle basket workshop set

Larry Bennett teaches a two-day pine needle basket workshop at the Landing Mall (lower level), 115 E. Railroad Ave., Port Angeles, on Nov. 12 and Nov. 13.

Registration for the workshop, set for 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. each day (with a half-hour lunch break scheduled), is Nov. 8.

A fee applies; prepayment is required. Call 360-912-1135 for information or to register.

Bennett works for the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife in Port Angeles and has been making baskets for 35 years. His baskets have been displayed at the Washington State Capitol museum in Olympia and have won awards in several art shows.

Accordion social slated

The Sequim Accordion Social will be at the Sequim Shipley Center, 921 E. Hammond St., from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13. A $2-$3 admission donation is requested at the door to pay for the room. The featured player is Richard Myking. All players should bring their accordion and a song or two to play, and accordion lovers and dancers are invited to attend.
