Northwest poets at P.A. Library

Kate Reavey, of Sequim, and Ed Harkness, of Seattle, will read from their works at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5, in the Raymond Carver Room at Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St.

Both poets are longtime teachers at Washington community colleges. Reavey’s "Too Small to Hold You" was published in 2000 and is in its third printing. Harkness’ "Saying the Necessary" was published in 2000, and his new collection "Beautiful Passing Lives" is forthcoming.

Story People spin love tales

The Story People of Clallam County feature Port Angeles professional storyteller Cherie Trebon at the monthly storytelling event at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, in the Carver Room at the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St., Port Angeles.

Trebon’s program "That’s the Story of Love" includes stories with songs that look at romantic love. The event is free. An open story swap follows the performance.

Kalai, a Hawaiian-born, Alaskan-raised performer whose music ranges from soft ballads to edgy blues to straight and acid jazz, will give a free noontime concert today, Wednesday, Feb. 3, in the Pirate Union Building at Peninsula College, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles.

Hear it, see it

KSQM (91.5 FM) will honor its first-year supporters with an open house from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 14, at the station at 577 W. Washington St., Sequim.

The Heritage Circle of Friends honor roll will be unveiled. It lists individuals, businesses and organizations that donated funds, services, goods and time to bring the nonprofit all-volunteer community radio to the area. Tours will be offered and refreshments served.

Gallery anniversary

The Waterfront Art Gallery at 120 W. First St., Port Angeles, is celebrating its first year in its newly redecorated location and 27 years in the business.

Four original members – June Bowlby, Hideko Goecker, Carol Janda and Irene Loghry – are the featured artists for February. An anniversary party is planned from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12.

The co-op gallery is accepting applications, available at the gallery, to join the group of artists.

Symphony feast

The Port Angeles Symphony Orchestra holds its fundraiser dinner and auction on Saturday, Feb. 27. It includes live and silent auctions for items that include a wine cellar and a variety of trips.

The Enchanted Island Evening will begin at 6 p.m. at the SunLand Country Club, 109 Hilltop Drive, Sequim. Dinner will be a Michael’s Kamehameha Feast featuring mahi mahi, teriyaki beef, hulie hulie chicken, Kalua pork or any of these prepared as a vegetarian dish.
