Barks Brews fundraiser to boost Pet Posse

The Peninsula Taproom hosts fundraising event

Barks & Brews

Fundraiser benefiting Pet Posse

When: 3-7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10

Where: Peninsula Taproom, 210 W. Washington St. Suite 4

Pet Posse has been in operation in Clallam County since 2014, and the small volunteer organization has made it their mission to help reunite lost pets with their families.

While their staff are all volunteers, running such a group costs a fair amount of money, and the community they’ve served is stepping up to help them out.

“This is a great organization,” said Randy Perry, a Sequim business owner and organizer of Barks & Brews — a fundraiser being hosted at the Peninsula Taproom on Saturday, Aug. 10, to support Pet Posse.

“They’ve helped bring more than 2,500 animals home,” Perry added, “and they’re starting to do even more than that. They deserve our support.”

Perry is hoping to get “a couple hundred” attendees to support the organization, who from 3-7 p.m. will be able to buy beer from the Taproom, and make small donations for hamburgers and hot dogs on site.

Tickets for door prizes will be available as well, with all proceeds from the event going to Pet Posse.

According to Perry, door prizes include veterinary and grooming services from numerous local facilities, gift cards for area restaurants such as Oak Table Cafe, Kokopelli Grill, Coyote BBQ and Oasis Bar & Grill, plus gift baskets and more.

Perry says that numerous local businesses have already made sponsorship donations as well, including Sweet Spot Sequim Inc., Rocha Family Auto Sales, Dan Shappie of Farmers Insurance, Bell Street Insurance (Allstate Insurance), RE/MAX Prime, A2Z Fencing, Black Reign Tattoo and Clear Water Bidets.

The full selection of Peninsula Taproom beverages will be available, and additional space outdoors in the parking lot will be blocked off for people to gather and talk.

Dogs will be welcome to the event as well as long as they are well-behaved and get along with other dogs, event organizers say.

Perry said several representatives of Pet Posse will be on hand, along with some of the animals they’ve helped rescue. They’ll also be bringing their new pet ambulance that they’re now using for emergency animal transportation — a relatively new service Pet Posse is offering, along with their recent work to become a part of Clallam County’s emergency planning as an emergency animal shelter.
