Dick and Winona Bekkevar were married June 16, 1946, and celebrated their 71st anniversary at a dinner on June 17 at the home of Mark and Aleta Smith.

In attendance were their children: Chris Baker, Aleta (Mark) Smith, Dave (Trish) Bekkevar, Loretta (Fred) Grant, Dorinda Becker, Jim (Andrea) Bekkevar, granddaughter Jacquie Wilskey and brother-in-law Lance Otis. Dick and Winona were both born and raised in Sequim as were their six children.

All six children still live and work here. The Bekkevars have 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
