Bluthenthal wins Film Festival Poster Contest

Kelley Bluthenthal created the winning entry in the Sequim Education Foundation’s Film Festival Poster Contest for 2013. Festival chairman Elna Kawal announced that Kelley had won the $100 cash prize. Posters were displayed on the SEF website and the winner was decided by a vote of the public.

The 13-year-old Sequim student and his brother, Cameron, took first place with their videos in the 2012 festival and second place in 2011.  The competition is open to middle school and high school students.

Film Festival winners will be awarded up to $6,750 in scholarship funds, plus cash and merchandise prizes. Trophies will be given for best actor and actress, and the people’s choice Elkie Award will go to the winning video chosen by the audience. Information on the contest is available at www.sequimed.org.

The 2013 SEF Student Film Festival starts with a spaghetti dinner fundraiser ($8 adults, $5 students) at 5:30 p.m. Friday, April 19, at the Sequim High School cafeteria. The screening follows at 7 p.m. in the SHS auditorium. Tickets are $5, with pre-school children free.
