Chicken Pickin’ good time

Armstrong releases new album

Dungeness musician Cort Armstrong is picking his way.

In January, the plucky Americana musician released his new CD "Chicken Pickin’," which combines country blues, folk, ragtime, bluegrass, honky tonk and more.

Armstrong’s style of finger picking his resophonic guitar led his musical cohorts to dub it "chicken pickin’."

He recorded the album at Nash’s Organic Produce’s store inside the old Dungeness Tavern.

Armstrong has traveled the Pacific Northwest as a solo musician and played and recorded in Asheville, N.C., with his former band Blue Rooster.

Living in the Sequim area, Armstrong said he finds endless inspiration for his music from the barnyard to the banks of the Dungeness River.

The CD is available through Armstrong’s Web site and at Nash’s Farm Store, 4681 Sequim-Dungeness Way, Sequim.

The concert begins with a few solos before he brings band members onto the stage and into the set.
