Clallam Conservation District is offering two free workshops this spring to cover a variety of farm management topics.
The first workshop is set for 10-11 a.m. Friday, April 14, at a 5-acre farm west of Sequim that is home to several mini and standard donkeys.
Participants will learn about the farm’s mud-free paddocks, techniques used to regulate grazing to help keep the donkeys at a healthy weight, and the manure management system.
Topics will also include learning how to use native plants to add beauty, encourage pollinators, and screen farm activities.
Conservation District staff will also be on hand to provide technical guides and advice to help participants implement management techniques used by this farm.
The second workshop is 1-2:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 10, at Robin Hill Farm County Park between Sequim and Port Angeles.
District planners and Clallam County Noxious Weeds Department staff teach participants how to identify and control common poisonous and noxious weeds.
The workshop will include tips for improving pastures and hayfields to help reduce weed infestations. Participants are encouraged to bring weeds from their property for identification in a sealed bag or container.
Both workshops require registration; complete registrations at the Clallam Conservation District’s website at clallamcd.org/2023-farm-workshops.
