Collectors send for stamp show

Abraham Lincoln stamp special to Sequim

Members of the Strait Stamp Society return for a 17th year to send you to their annual Strait Stamp Show this Saturday.

Last year, 240 stamp admirers attended the show, including a group from Canada that makes the pilgrimage to the Sequim Masonic Lodge.

Dealers from all over the Northwest come to sell and trade, and attendees can have collections and individual stamps appraised for free. Amateur collectors can enjoy the 1 cent table where thousands of stamps are available for the picking.

Sequim Postmaster Steve Allen returns to issue the show’s annual cancellation stamp of Abraham Lincoln on a Port Angeles emblem designed envelope for $2. Show organizer Phil Castell says there are stamps at the event on every subject.

“It’s fun for topical collectors,” he said. “Whatever they like they’ll be able to find.”

The Strait Stamp Society has met for 39 years and meets at 6 p.m. the first Thursday of each month at the Sequim Library. For more information on the club, call 683-6373.
