Music Live with Lunch brings in Craig Buhler and Friends to headline the monthly concert series on Oct. 20.

Buhler, playing saxophone and piano, leads compatriots from his other bands in a number of tunes from the Great American Song Book starting at noon in St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 525 N. Fifth Ave.

He plans to incorporate a few “unusual gems” too. Following a 30-minute set, hot lunch is served at 12:30 p.m. in the parish hall.

Buhler is well-known on the Olympic Peninsula as a band director and instructor.

Some of his resume includes charting the rock band Honk, serving as director of the 17-piece Stardust Dance Band  and teaching full-time woodwinds, ear training, improvisation and at workshops.

He is a former worship director and currently plays for the Dungeness Community Church’s worship team.

So far, he’s produced six jazz albums and three contemporary Christian worship albums. His latest project is arranging hymns for a 17-piece jazz band for an album, which he will preview on Sunday, Nov. 1, at the Faith Puzzle event in Sequim High School Auditorium.

Music Live with Lunch was founded 25 years ago by Lou and Bill Yandell at St. Luke’s as an outreach program to the community on the third Tuesday of each month. Tickets are $10 each with season passes available for $70 at the church office 9 a.m.-noon Monday-Thursday, or at the concert door.
