Dahlias in the spotlight at Sequim garden series

Jan Danford, a Washington State University Master Gardener since 2014, is all about dahlias as she shares information to keep your plants healthy all year round.

Danford presents her expertise at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17, at the Master Garden Demonstration Garden, 2711 Woodcock Road, Sequim, as a part the “Saturdays in the Garden” lecture series.

Danford shared honors as Intern of the Year 2014 and Master Gardener of the Year 2016. She is the chair of the Garden Operating Committee and devotes volunteer hours to the shrub garden and the dahlia bed at Woodcock.

Danford also coordinates the Boys & Girls Club Garden Club. She was an educator in the Department of Defense Schools forchildren of military dependents overseas and retired to Sequim after most recently serving children in Japan.

Note: The Ward Road Bridge over the Dungeness River east of the garden is under construction, so drivers should plan to travel from the west from Cays Road.
