Sunland Women’s Golf Association is preparing for its annual fundraising tournament that supports breast cancer screening and diagnostic services for men and women on the North Olympic Peninsula.
All donations and profits from the fundraiser are given to the Olympic Medical Center Foundation to aid residents without adequate insurance and funds to pay for services. Last year, a record $19,600 was raised and donated to the foundation.
This year, Sunland Women’s Golf Association hopes to top that amount. An anonymous donor will match funds raised one to three up to last year’s total and one to one on anything over.
The tournament will take place on Saturday, Aug. 9. Men’s, women’s, and mixed teams may compete. Form your own team or sign up as an individual and the Sunland Pro shop will assign you to a team.
The public’s cost is $80 for 18 holes and $65 for nine holes, which includes golf, prize money, and lunch. There will be opportunities to purchase mulligans and magic putts as well as to participate in on-course games.
Golf cart rental is available for an additional cost. Non-golfers may attend the lunch for $30.
Live auction and big raffle items include: $500 cash; two Seattle Storm courtside seats with parking for Sept. 5; two Seattle Mariner tickets with VIP parking for Sept. 13; $500 worth of wine; and a quilt created by Quilting on the Green. Sound Bank is a major sponsor.
Baskets, loaded with fun and valuable items, will be raffled off following lunch.
The tournament begins at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start. Lunch is served in the clubhouse following the tournament.
