Entertainment: Accordion social features profession player

The Sequim Accordion Social will be held 1-4 p.m. Sunday, March 12, at the Sequim Shipley Center, 921 E. Hammond St.

A $2 or $3 donation is requested at the door to help pay for the room.

The featured player is Toby Hanson from Graham. He is a pianist and accordionist who has been playing professionally since he graduated from Cornish College of the Arts in 1998.

He plays with several different bands including his polka band, The Smilin’ Scandinavians, the French cabaret band Rouge, Western swing band The Jangles, country Americana band Cowgirl’s Dream, vintage jazz band Bunny Holiday and the Highball Boys and the Valse Café Orchestra. Hanson recently was a performer at the Southwest Polka Party in Las Vegas, Nev. His extensive repertoire and professional experience ensure a lively performance that can cover a wide range of popular and ethnic music.

All players should bring their accordions and a song or two to play, and accordion lovers and dancers are invited to attend for some great music.

If you know of someone who plays the accordion, let him or her know about the group’s event and ask every player to bring their accordion.
