Monday Musicale is inviting high school senior music students intending to major or minor in music as they continue their education to audition for scholarships of up to $3,000 for first-place winners.

The group gives a total of $6,000 to the top three performers as awarded by judges. First place is in honor of Richard McCoy, an active member of Monday Musicale prior to his death.

Auditions, before three professional musicians, begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 3, at the First Presbyterian Church, 139 W. Eighth St., Port Angeles. Students perform a classical piece of no more than 10 minutes before the judges, who give a short critique and then name the three winners.

Students should see the person in charge of scholarships at their high school who will have the paperwork to be filled out and returned to the Monday Musicale scholarship chairman. Home-schooled students are encouraged to call Dan Dutton, director of Northwinds Home School Band, or Jacqueline Chilcott at 683-7601 for an application.
