Experience the culture of Vietnam through dance

As part of the North Olympic Library System’s annual Summer Reading Program, the Duoc Su Lion Dance Team will be performing at three peninsula libraries.

Following a July 31 performance in Clallam Bay, the troop will perform at the Port Angeles Library at 6 p.m. July 31, and at the Sequim Library (630 N. Sequim Ave.) at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1.

The Duoc Su Lion Dance Team shares the culture of Vietnam through traditional dance, costume and culture.

The team originated in 2010 with several members of the Duoc Su Buddhist Youth Group. Originally performing exclusively at their temple, the team evolved and grew to perform at weddings, grand openings, parties and various other community events. By keeping to their three pillars — culture, tradition and unity — they aim to educate and help inspire younger generations keep in touch with their roots.
