Resurrection songs, readings planned

Sequim Adventist Church, 30 Sanford Lane, Sequim, will present “He Is Risen,” with a variety of resurrection-themed songs and readings, at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 15. Soloists, duets and instrumental numbers will be featured. Traditional hymns and praise songs provide opportunities for audience participation. Guests and members are invited to stay afterwards for a soup and sandwich supper. The public is invited and admission is free. For more information, call 683-7373.

Trinity sets Easter activities

Maundy Thursday and Easter services have been scheduled at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 S. Blake Ave. A 6 p.m. soup supper precedes the 6:45 p.m. service on Maundy Thursday, April 13. The service features “Two Faces in the Shadows,” a dialog between Simon Peter and Judas Iscariot after the crucifixion of Jesus. Communion will be served. The next day, Good Friday, the sanctuary will be open from 9 a.m.-noon for prayer and meditation.

Those attending the Easter service at 10 a.m. Sunday, April 16, are invited to place a blossom on the flower cross in the sanctuary just before the service. The Trinity Singers and Handbell Choir will perform and the Rev. Bill Green will deliver the message. A light brunch will be available from 9-9:45 a.m., resuming immediately after the service, when children may participate in an Easter egg hunt.

Hebrew offered for beginners

An ongoing free weekly Hebrew class from 6:30-8 p.m. begins Thursday, April 20, and will meet every Thursday for 12 weeks, at the 4 Seasons Ranch community in Port Angeles. Participants learn biblical Hebrew along with insights into the Jewish mind-set and culture. People of all faiths are welcome. Classes are free except for the workbook (The First Hebrew Primer, 3rd Ed.) to be purchased online. For more information, call instructor Otto Gershon at 417-9558.

Taize service on tap

All are welcome to the ecumenical Taize service at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 525 N. Fifth Ave., at 7 p.m. Monday, April 24. In a meditative candlelit atmosphere which includes singing simple repetitive songs, one may simply sit peacefully during the hour long service or join in the chorus while experiencing the calming effect of being in God’s presence. Taize will continue to be held the fourth Monday of each month.
