Faith News: conference sees 400 women attend, World Day of Prayer set in Sequim

The Olympic Peninsula Women’s Fellowship held its first major event to much success. Organizers brought in author/speaker Elisa Morgan of Denver to speak about how “God sees you” with 400 women of all ages from across the peninsula at Dungeness Community Church on Feb. 24-25.

The fellowship group plans to bring in a speaker annually and invite women from “Bible-believing churches on the Olympic Peninsula” to attend. For more information, visit https://olympicpeninsulawomensfellowship.com.

World Day of Prayer set

Around the world on Friday, March 3, people in more than 170 countries and regions, will celebrate World Day of Prayer 2017. This year the women of the WDP Committee of Philippines are the writers of the service and call to worship considering the words: “Am I being unfair to you?”

This year’s local Ecumenical Prayer Service will be held from noon-1 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Friday, March 3, for an Hour of Prayer.

World Day of Prayer is a worldwide ecumenical movement of Christian women of many traditions, who come together to observe a common day of prayer each year on the first Friday in March. World Day of Prayer was founded on the idea that prayer and action are inseparable in the service of God’s kingdom. Each year a different country’s committee serves as the writers of the World Day of Prayer worship service.
