For her efforts to help Helen Haller Elementary School’s Earth Day Fun Run last spring, Ava Schoessler, 8, pictured on right, earned a special trip on Feb. 2 in a fire truck with her mom Tonya, and friend Tessa Thompson, 8.

Ava earned the most donations for all students in kindergarten-second grade for the fun run organized by the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) for art and activity programming and the Six Books for Summer project. Parents are planning the fun run again this April.
