Fourth Friday is calling all writers

Group is expanding opportunities

Sequim Gazette staff

The popular Fourth Friday Readings, held each month at the Rainshadow Coffee Bar, provide a great opportunity to read your work to a large and appreciative audience.

It’s easy to do. Just arrive at the Rainshadow between 6-6:30 p.m. and sign up.

The featured writer portion of the evening begins at 6:30 p.m., with open mic beginning at 7 p.m.

Each writer has five minutes at the mic.

Beginning Feb. 28, the readings will offer an every-other-month opportunity to provide an expanded reading, with three featured writers chosen to open the evening.

While the single featured writer must be a published author, the three featured writers don’t have to be published.

Just put your name in at any Fourth Friday Reading to be drawn as one of the three featured writers at an upcoming event. If your name is drawn, you’ll enjoy 7-9 minutes at the mic.

Alternatively, you can e-mail Rmarcus@olypen.com to submit your name.

If chosen, you’ll be asked to submit a high resolution head shot photo and a bio for use in a press release and poster.

Featured writers are allowed to sell books they’ve published at the close of the evening.

Because the Fourth Friday readings are open to everyone, organizers say the content should not extend beyond PG-13 standards, with no disturbing violence or erotica.
