Writers on the Spit features poet Andrew Rahal at its free Fourth Friday Reading Series at 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 26, at Rainshadow Coffee Bar, 157 W. Cedar St. in Sequim.

A widely published poet, Rahal holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in literature and creative writing from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn., where he co-founded the Nashville Review.

On the Olympic Peninsula, Rahal served an internship with Copper Canyon Press in Port Townsend and spent time with AmeriCorps, serving in the Port Angeles School District and with the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe.

He lives in Forks and is a teaching assistant at the Quileute Tribal School in La Push.

Prose/poetry writers can sign up for the one hour open-mic readings that follow Rahal. Writers are given five minutes for their readings; names are drawn from those submitted before the event begins. Come early for a good seat and excellent coffee.
