Authors Gordon Anderson and Bonnie Dickmann are the featured guests at the next Fourth Friday Readings, a free event set for a 6:15 p.m. start on Aug. 25 at The Lodge’s media room, 660 Evergreen Farm Road.
Dickmann moved to the Olympic Peninsula a year ago from Wisconsin, where she had lived her whole life. She has kept a journal for more than 40 years and has published poetry, fiction and non-fiction, and especially enjoys nature writing. She also loves the environs of her new home, observing that rainforests and salt water were not part of life in Wisconsin.
While Dickmann is a newcomer, Anderson has spent a large part of his life living and camping on the coast, drinking too much coffee, and using his library card for 70 years. He writes many formats of poetry, free verse to rhymes, haiku to longer verse … even a short story now and then. Anderson’s sixth volume of poetry is soon to be published.
An hour of 5-minute open mic readings will follow the presentation. Interested writers should come early to submit their names; they are asked to rehearse in advance, as the readings are timed. For guidelines, email to lindabmyers@yahoo.com.
