Free radio forum helps prepare for making medical decisions

Nurse Sandra L. Ulf of Olympic Medical Center presents “Who will speak for you when you can not?”, a free WOW! Working on Wellness radio forum set for 2-3 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, on KSQM 91.5. FM.

Ulf has been a registered nurse since 1976, working in many areas of healthcare: inpatient, outpatient, home care and hospices.

Ulf will talk about advance care plans, which feature two main elements — designating who to trust to be the medical decision-maker if someone is incapacitated, and clarifies wishes for how medical care, including life-sustaining treatments, should proceed when a person is unable to communicate.

WOW! Working on Wellness is a health education program of Dungeness Valley Health & Wellness Clinic — Sequim’s free clinic, which provides basic urgent care and chronic health care services to uninsured community members. Work is supported by more than 70 volunteers including physicians, other professional health care providers an laypersons, as well as private and public donations from the Sequim community and beyond.

The Basic Urgent Care Clinic is open to patients on Monday and Thursday evenings beginning at 5 p.m. Individuals interested in supporting the clinic may call 360-582-0218.
