The Port Angeles Symphony Orchestra opens its 80th season with a special family concert featuring both the orchestra and The Magic Circle Mime Co. at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, at the Port Angeles High School auditorium.
The program includes Britten’s "Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra," Mozart’s Symphony No. 39, Bernstein’s overture from "Candide" and selections from Tchaikovsky’s "Nutcracker," Bizet’s "Carmen," and Brahms’ "Academic Festival Overture."
Conductor Adam Stern finds his carefully planned performance sidetracked by the unexpected participation of two audience members. Musical challenges, disputes and revelations are part of the fun.
Tickets are $5 for those 16 and under; $10 general admission; and $15/$20 for reserved seats for over 16.
General admission tickets are available in Sequim at The Good Book/Joyful Noise Music Center, 108 W. Washington St. (683-3600) and at Sequim Village Glass of Carlsborg, 761 Carlsborg Road (582-3098) and in Port Angeles at Port Book and News, 104 E. First St. (452-6367).
